Besides admiring the plum blossoms, visitors have the chance to explore strawberry fields, ripe persimmons, or fields of rape flowers, peaches, and apricots. Moc Chau’s plum flowers, with their pristine white color, can easily stir emotions in anyone who sees them. They are considered a palette representing comfort and unburdening, easily evoking thoughts of all that is beautiful.

The plum blossoms in Moc Chau sparkle under the spring sunlight, covering hills and valleys in their pure white beauty. From afar, the entire region appears in a pristine white hue. As you get closer, the blossoms stand out with their small white petals and yellow stamens.

      Where to admire plum blossoms?

In Moc Chau during the plum blossom season, you can easily see the white blooms along the roadsides. However, to witness entire hills and valleys covered in white, you may need to venture deeper into the villages. According to travel experiences in Moc Chau, the best places to see plum blossoms are Phieng Canh, Van Ho, Tan Lap, Na Man Valley, the road to Pha Luong peak, and Ban Ang village.

When do Moc Chau’s plum flowers bloom?

The question of when Moc Chau’s plum flowers bloom is one many people want to know. Like other flower seasons in Moc Chau, such as rape flowers, wild sunflowers, and ban flowers, plum blossoms don’t bloom sporadically but rather en masse across hills and valleys. If you wish to witness the breathtaking scenery of Son La as the white of these flowers unfolds, plan your visit for the end of December.

The plum blossoms start to bloom around this time until about February. Typically, the plum blossom season coincides with the Lunar New Year holiday. This season also overlaps with the time when the white Ban flowers show off their beauty. Additionally, many types of wild orchids compete to spread their fragrance and bloom. Therefore, this period is also referred to by many tourists as Moc Chau’s flower season.

Moc Chau’s plum blossoms in Na Ka Valley

Located about 12 km from the center of Moc Chau town is the Na Ka plum valley. This area is renowned for having the most extensive plum cultivation in Moc Chau. Na Ka valley is famous for its thousands of ancient plum trees with rugged trunks, large roots, and wide canopies. From above, you can enjoy the vast orchards of white plum blossoms.

You will be overwhelmed by the white color spreading across a vast valley. Notably, not only does this area have Moc Chau plum flowers, but other types of flowers are interspersed, making the spring scenery even more unique.

Moc Chau’s plum blossoms in Ang pine forest

The second destination for admiring Moc Chau plum blossoms that we cannot miss is the Ang pine forest. Located about 6 km from the town, plums are also cultivated on a large scale here. The climate is very mild, and the air is fresh, making the beautiful pine forest even more charming and attractive.

Moc Chau’s plum blossoms in Phieng Canh village

Also on the route to Na Ka plum valley, Phieng Canh village nestles at the foot of a small valley. Here, the plums are mainly from ancient trees, so there are fewer flowers, but in return, you can freely take photos and play with the children of the village.

Moc Chau’s plum blossoms in Pa Phach village

Pa Phach is home to a large number of H’Mong people, located in Dong Sang commune, Moc Chau district, on National Highway 6, about 5km from Truong Giang junction, Moc Chau town.

This is a village where the H’Mong people have lived for generations, and the local culture is very distinctive in this area. You will see H’Mong girls wearing colorful skirts, the daily activities of the ethnic people,… very unique when you come here. Surrounding the small village are hills and mountains, each spring, it is adorned with the colors of various flowers such as white mustard, yellow mustard, white plum blossoms, yellow wild sunflowers, and red poinsettias.

Plum blossoms in Ngu Dong – Ban On

Ngu Dong Ban On is located in Ban On, Nong Truong Moc Chau town, Moc Chau district, Son La province. Although it has been marked on the map of prominent Moc Chau tourist spots, due to the terrain and the challenges in conquering it, this place still retains its pristine beauty. The terrain of Ngu Dong is quite rugged, mostly consisting of narrow, winding dirt roads made by a few locals.

The Ngu Dong – Ban On plum orchard is located about 4km from the Taiwan Heart-Shaped Tea Hill. Thus, it is a convenient destination that allows you to admire many interesting landscapes of Moc Chau. This orchard is smaller than the Na Ka Plum Valley. However, the combination of old trees with unique rock formations and diverse terrain in the garden offers visitors rare and new experiences.

Don’t miss the Moc Chau plum blossom season (Photo: Duyen Cao)

I couldn’t find this place on Google Maps, so we just went asking around. Here, we also had the chance to admire the tiny peach blossoms blooming simultaneously with the Moc Chau plum blossoms. The blend of these two types of flowers makes Moc Chau even more romantic and unique. Believe that your time here will not be wasted, not even for a second.

      Travel Tips?

Daytime temperatures in Moc Chau range from 12-17 degrees Celsius. The Winter-Spring season in Moc Chau is colder than in the lowlands, so when coming to hunt for Moc Chau plum blossoms, you need to prepare some necessary items such as warm clothes, wool hats, hand warmers, scarves, gloves.

Traveling to Moc Chau around this time, the roads to attractions like valleys and hills can be slippery due to fog. Another note when entering the plum gardens is not to pick flowers, cut branches, or shake the trees causing the flowers to fall. Entrance tickets for photography in the gardens are also only about 10k-20k/person, so no need to bargain.
