The Tram Pagoda relic complex has a long history. It was first founded by General Tran Van Tang around the early 16th century (1515). As you walk straight in through the main gate, you’ll see a monument commemorating the moment when the Voice of Vietnam broadcast the 1946 nationwide resistance call. Behind the monument is the entrance to Long Tien Cave. Inside is Hang Pagoda, home to many Buddha statues in all sizes.
The Tram Mountain area is a popular weekend picnic and day-trip spot for young people. It has a surprisingly charming, rustic beauty, with soft dirt trails winding gracefully along the mountainside. Alongside weathered, uneven white rock outcrops that carry the marks of time, Tram Mountain is often compared to a “mini Ha Giang stone plateau.”
Tram Mountain isn’t very high, but it leaves a strong impression thanks to its steep, rugged cliff faces. Together, they form a dramatic valley filled with massive boulders in all kinds of unusual and fascinating shapes. Visitors have the chance to explore and observe the unique forms of these rock formations throughout the hike. The gravel-strewn paths only add to Tram Mountain’s distinctive character.
From the foothill all the way up to the summit, stones and pebbles blanket the trails. Along the way, hikers can spot clusters of wildflowers blooming behind rocky ledges—bright accents against the rolling white stone backdrop. Bathed in golden sunlight under a clear blue sky, everything blends into a peaceful, poetic landscape that’s hard not to fall for.
From the top, you can look out over vivid green rice fields and small, simple houses that radiate countryside calm. In the distance are more green fields and rustic fish ponds. If you look farther south, you’ll spot a small mountain range—home to the Tram Gian Pagoda relic site.
Tram Pagoda Festival takes place every year starting on the 2nd day of the 2nd lunar month. Visitors from all over can come to join the festivities, stroll the scenic area, and pay their respects in the fresh atmosphere of spring. Especially around the 3rd lunar month, you’ll also get to see the hillsides around Tram Mountain glowing with the vibrant red blossoms of kapok trees.
